Claudette presents...

Ginger Rogers

"I can do anything Fred can do,

dancing backwards in a long gown

and on high heels".

Ginger (16 July, 1911 - 25 April, 1995), actress, dancer, and musical comedy performer, was born Virginia Katherine McMath in Independence, Missouri.

Fred Astair was her enchanting dance partner in 10 movies.

Her single mother 'Lela' (who died in 1977) became the most important person in Roger's life, managing her career with force and confidence and often delivering pointed advice that Rogers says she countered only rarely, and then usually to her later regret. Her mother, she recalls in her autobiography, was variously "my writer, designer, seamstress, business manager, confidant, and chaperone."
